As a Mortgage DE Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and approving loan applications, ensuring that all documentation is accurate, complete, and meets the established guidelines.

**Responsibilities:**

- Review and evaluate mortgage loan applications to ensure they meet company and FHA/HUD guidelines.
- Analyze borrower profiles, credit histories, income documentation, and appraisals to determine risk and eligibility.
- Communicate and collaborate with loan officers, processors, and clients to resolve any issues or obtain necessary documentation.
- Approve or decline applications based on a thorough analysis and company policies.
- Stay updated with industry regulations, changes, and trends to ensure compliance and efficient underwriting practices.
- Provide clear and concise explanation to support underwriting decisions and recommendations.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior underwriters to ensure consistent and high-quality underwriting processes.

**Qualifications:**

- DE Underwriter Certification is required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mortgage underwriting.
- Strong knowledge of FHA, VA, and conventional loan programs and guidelines.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple files and deadlines.
- Proficient in mortgage processing and underwriting software; experience with automated underwriting systems is a plus.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
