Help Desk Technician | Plainwell, MI

Salary Range: $48,000 - $74,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first-line technical support for hardware, software, and network issues impacting manufacturing operations.
• Install, configure, and maintain IT equipment specific to the factory floor, including production terminals, barcode scanners, and industrial printers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to manufacturing execution systems (MES), enterprise resource planning (ERP) modules, and user workstations.
• Document all support requests, resolutions, and contribute to the IT knowledge base for manufacturing-specific issues.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and physical checks on IT assets within the production environment.
• Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff or specialized control system engineers as required.

Recommended Qualifications

• Strong ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network connectivity issues (e.g., Windows OS, Microsoft Office, printers, mobile devices).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on providing patient and effective support to end-users in a manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of the operational impact of IT issues within a production setting and ability to prioritize accordingly.
• Proven aptitude for logical problem-solving and meticulous documentation of support tickets and resolutions.
• Foundational knowledge of network concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and basic network troubleshooting.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience supporting manufacturing-specific software (e.g., MES, ERP systems like SAP).
• Familiarity with industrial hardware (e.g., barcode scanners, label printers, ruggedized tablets).
• Understanding of operational technology (OT) environments or basic industrial control systems.
• Prior experience working within a manufacturing plant or production facility.
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.
